Ruby and ED visited the 2018 De Montfort University Art and Design Degree show – an exciting showcase of innovative and creative work of local final year students. We really enjoyed meeting with such talented young people, from architects and artists, to designers and fashion buyers. We’ve listed below three of our favourites from the show.
As a lover of footwear, we couldn’t resist having a look see at what exciting new things the next generation have started to create – Gareth Dearden certainly caught our eye. Reflective of industry, his bold, handmade designs stood out with their modern twists on timeless styles.
With a collection of hand built ceramics, Sarah Shepherd’s range of carefully crafted plant pots, showcase the delicacy of working with clay. With the cacti trend very much a feature of this year, we will be sure to check out Sarah’s Etsy page to get our hands on these unique creations.
A huge part of our business is of course, being cruelty free. We were drawn to a striking and colourful project by Olivia Alexander. “APIS”, a compact and contemporary beehive, is designed to be implemented into urban areas to encourage people to get involved in beekeeping – a well thought out idea that we hope to see in place very soon!
